I hate my job! [well not me personally]

According to Gallup's 2018 survey a whopping 66% of employees worldwide are either not engaged or are actively disengaged in their job. But (we will let you in on some good, well better news) despite such high levels of 'disengagement' the majority of these employees don’t actually state that they hate their jobs. The say that they lack passion for their roles and don’t care enough put anything more into their roles than the bare minimum.

This week we asked our followers for the WORST jobs, so that we could have a laugh and get some perspective on our roles, and I got to draw instead of blog .. woop woop!

firstly, here are some of the awesome (and some gross) submissions, that didn't even make the cut :

  • Worked at 'Cash Counters' in an underground basement

  • Helped a local farmer load and unload, and load and unload ......... live stock.

  • Door-2-Door Salesman!

  • Teaching the PepTalk Team reformer pilates

  • Worked on the raw ingredients line in a meat factory - needless to say, I haven't eaten chicken tika since!

  • I had to stand behind a deep fat frier and scrap hardened fat off with a chisel #winning

  • Having to deal with Jenny Murphy was possibly the worst?!

  • Taking the 'poo-pipe' out of 30kg of fish for my Saturday job when I was 16

  • I worked in a cigarette factory for a few years my job was to turn the leaf and rag into tobacco, the leaf came from Brazil and Colombia , sometimes with more than just leaf in the boxes !! I never smoked! 🕷

  • Either working in a chicken factory removing guts while I was a vegetarian or working at a fish counter on my J1, again when i was a vegetarian, I was terrified of the lobsters as hadn't seen one before in real life

  • There is so many - but ‘kamaking’ on a Greek island at 17 to sell strip shows for a sleazy bar comes to mind

(1) I had to scrap cow pooh from the farmers yard every day. I slipped on it numerous times! #Yeiks

(2) I worked in a meat factory gutting chickens .. while I was a vegetarian!

Either working in a chicken factory removing guts while I was a vegetarian or working at a fish counter on my J1, again when i was a vegetarian, I was terrified of the lobsters as hadn't seen one before in real life

(3) I used to Earn £20 for a full day counter and measuring microplastics

(4) I worked in a factory as a potato picker

(5) I cleaned the chewing gum off the pavement outside 875 Park ave in New York. That pavement is spotless ...

The Good News :

The good news is that there are plenty of things we can do as employers to drive engagement.
